Jerry Mack Perry, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, left this earth into the arms of Jesus on Friday, May 31, 2024 at the age of 81. He was born in Attalla, Alabama to Emerson and Lola Perry and was a graduate of Etowah High School in Attalla. Jerry received his bachelor’s degree and a master’s of pharmacy degree from Auburn University. He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was an avid Auburn fan and enjoyed all Auburn sports. A former resident of Florence, Mississippi, Jerry owned and operated MooreCo Drugs in Jackson for over thirty years. He was a longtime member and Deacon at First Baptist Church Florence where he taught Royal Ambassadors and Sunday School classes for young married and adult couples for thirty-five years. In 2019 Jerry moved to the Oak Grove Community in Lamar County and continued to serve his Lord through his membership at Temple Baptist Church. He was a man of deep faith and lived out the mantra, “Love God, Love People, and Serve Both.” Jerry loved his family deeply and has passed on a legacy of faith to his children and grandchildren. He loved people and had a positive impact on everyone who crossed his path. Jerry will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his positive outlook on life, his kindness, and the wisdom that he imparted to his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bobby Perry, Huey Perry, and O. E. Perry; a sister, Robbie Perry Triggs; and a brother-in-law, Gene A. Triggs. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Pam Perry; three daughters, Paige Perry, April Perry, and Amy Perry Smith (Ben); a brother, Randall Perry (Debbie); six grandchildren, Avery Duke, Larkin Pettit, Kees Pettit, Mackenzie Smith, Collins Smith, and Allie Rose Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation for Jerry at Temple Baptist Church in Hattiesburg from 10:00am until 12:00pm on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. The funeral service will follow at 12:00pm officiated by Reverend Gary Shows. He will be laid to rest in Highland Cemetery assisted by Jim Bloomfield, Austin Triggs, Emerson Perry, Brandon Parker, Dave Mosal, and Hunter Bloomfield serving as pallbearers.
