James M. Seymour, of Columbia, Mississippi, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the age of 77. He was a local business owner of Seymour Vacuum and Electric. He was a military veteran and served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. James served his community and his Lord through his membership with First United Methodist Church of Columbia where he was a faithful member of the choir. He loved music and loved singing in the choir where he served as the choir’s president. The family is comforted knowing that James has now joined the heavenly choir. He was known around Columbia for walking everywhere that he went in town and walked to work every day that the weather permitted. James will be remembered for his generosity and willingness to help anyone in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Martha Seymour. James is survived by his wife, Carol Seymour; his daughter, Elizabeth Seymour; a brother, Bobby Seymour; and a host of friends.
There will be a visitation for James at Colonial Funeral Home on Sunday, January 23, 2022 from 12:00pm until 1:30pm. A graveside funeral service will follow at 2:00pm in Woodlawn Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.
