Ernestine Allen, of the Improve Community in Mississippi, passed from this life into God’s presence on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at the age of 85. She was born in Sinton, TX to Earnest and Nell White and has been a resident of Marion County for the past 35 years. Ernestine had many interest and enjoyed quilting, cross stitching, and working in her flower garden. She was active with Women on Mission in Marion County and other women’s groups playing cards and dominos. Ernestine was very social and loved entertaining and visiting with family and friends. She was a woman of faith and served her Lord through her membership with Improve Baptist Church. Ernestine will be remembered for her deep love and affection for her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmie White; and her beloved husband, Clayton Allen. Ernestine is survived by two daughters, Judy (Ed) Boyd and Phyllis (Pat) Freeman; two sons, Dennis (Sharon) Allen and Bill (Angie) Allen; a sister Theresa (Jim) Ochenrider; three brothers, Donald Ray (Margie) White, Paul (Cindy) White, and Mike White; six grandchildren, Donald (Tori) Allen, Josh Allen, Allen Boyd, Eric Boyd, Reid Allen, and Randi Allen; one great-granddaughter, Vivian Boyd; her caregiver and friend, Katelyn Meadows; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation for Ernestine at Colonial Funeral Home on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Darel Daniels, will be in the funeral home chapel on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Improve Baptist Church Cemetery assisted by Donald Allen, Josh Allen, Reid Allen, Christopher Berch, Ken Ainsworth, and Jamie Ochenrider serving as pallbearers.
