Doree Yager Reyer, of Sumrall, Mississippi, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the age of 88. She was born in Columbia and has been a longtime resident both Marion and Lamar Counties. For many years, Miss Doree taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church in Columbia and could always remember the names of all the “Little Ones” that she had taught. She was a quite, simple woman who loved beautiful things and collected antiques and dishes throughout her life. She was an avid gardener, a gifted seamstress, loved to read, and loved animals. Miss Doree was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was devoted to her family. She gave more than she ever received and will be remembered for her selfless, generous heart. Though many will miss here greatly, the family takes comfort in the knowledge that she has joined her husband in the presence of her Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Julia Yager; a sister, Virginia Boyd; two brothers, Stanly Curtis Yager and Owen Yager; and her beloved husband of 59 years, Hoyt C. Reyer. Miss Doree is survived by her daughter, Yulka Reyer Palmer and her husband, Randy; three sisters, Polly Eaves, Betty Jo Stewart, and Diane Saul and her husband, Shorty; two granddaughters, Kayla Strauss and Kelsey Gregory and her husband, Chase; a great-granddaughter, Emma Layne Gregory; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a graveside funeral service for Miss Doree at 10:30am on Saturday, December 12, 2020 in Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia.
