Visitation will be 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home. Entombment with Full Military Honors will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the services a reception will be held 12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. at the Country Club of Missouri, 1300 Woodrail Avenue, Columbia, MO. Enter through the main entrance.
Bill was born October 31, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri the son of William Foster Drummond and Irene Augusta Ballenger Drummond. The family moved to Chula and Bill graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1946. It was there that he met his wife Shirley. They were united in marriage on March 28, 1948 and were together for 70 years until the passing of Shirley in 2018. In 1946 after high school graduation Bill enlisted in the United States Navy. He served until 1948. He entered the Navy Reserves and served in the Korean War from 1951-1952.
Bill continued his education in Finlay Engineering College, Kansas City, MO. He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1951. Through the years Bill worked for Ford Motor Company, Natkin & Company, both in Kansas City. He later founded Drummond Mechanical Contractors in Columbia, Missouri. Bill was a Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of the Optimist Club. He served on the board of Centerre Bank. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing as a member of “The Wild Bunch” at the Country Club of Missouri.
Survivors include: three children, Dana Meyer of Columbia, MO, Linda Smith of Chesterfield, MO and William “Steve” Drummond of Columbia, MO; three grandchildren, Jason Meyer, Justin Meyer (Angela) and Sean Smith (Lizzy) and four great-grandchildren, Jackson Meyer, Layla Meyer, Eliza Meyer and Violet Meyer. Bill was preceded in death by his wife: Shirley; a brother: Donald Drummond and one sister: Dorothy Drummond.
