Sandra Lee Wallace, 64, formerly of Blue Springs, MO passed away Friday, October 13th, at the University of Missouri Hospital after a long and courageous battle with the effects of a Sepsis infection. A service is scheduled for 2:30 pm, Thursday, October 19th at Memorial Park Cemetery, 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia, MO.
Sandra was born August 21, 1959, in Nashville, TN to Richard and Patricia Metheny Wallace. In 1977, she graduated from Hickman High School, then enrolled at the University of Missouri. After completion of her bachelor's degree, she enrolled in the University of Missouri Law School. After completing her law degree in 1984, she began a clerkship in Springfield, MO. Upon completion of her clerkship, she joined the Social Security Administration and worked for them until the effects of Sepsis forced her retirement in 2019. She finished her career with the Office of the General Council for the five state Social Security Regional Office in Kansas City, MO.
Sandra was very much an avid reader and dog lover, having rescued many over her life. She enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, her favorite destination, photography, and bird watching. Her favorite times of year were holidays when she spent time with family. And most of all she enjoyed being part of the lives of her nephew and niece, Bradley and Brittany.
She is survived by her father, Richard Wallace of Columbia; sister, Lisa (Robert) Evans of Blue Springs; a nephew, Bradley (Megan Lewis) Evans of Brooklyn, NY ; a niece, Brittany (Zach) Sage of Lee’s Summit; a great niece & nephew, Vivian & Joseph Sage, and by many friends and a loving extended family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Ann Wallace.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in her memory be made to the Central Missouri Humane Society at 616 Big Bear Blvd, Columbia, MO 65202.
