Roosevelt A. Thomas, Jr. 60, of Columbia, MO, passed to his Heavenly Home on January 12, 2021. A visitation will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 3:00 pm, both at Memorial Funeral Home, Columbia.
Roosevelt was born on June 18, 1960 in New Orleans, LA to Joyce Marie (Breaux) Thomas and Roosevelt Anthony Thomas, Sr. He was a graduate of Dominguez High School in Compton, CA. He was united in marriage to Yolonda Thomas for 12 wonderful years.
Roosevelt worked as a forklift and truck driver for Deline Box Company for almost 15 years. He was very active in the churches he attended, holding many positions at Friendship Baptist in Denver, CO, including: Deacon, Minister in training in the Mind Lifting School of Truth, Brotherhood Ministry, Security Ministry, Maintenance Ministry, Armor Bearer to Pastor Burleson, and Male Chorus. He was also a member of Rising Star Church, where he also served in their Male Chorus and Prison Ministry. He was also an ordained Elder, worked with Nursing Home Ministry, and actively taught bible study. He had a true passion for helping people and seeing them come to Christ. He was loved by so many and will be deeply missed.
Roosevelt was predeceased by his parents and daughter, Jermaine.
He leaves to honor his life and legacy wife, Yolonda; children, Yolanda, Myron, Joyvania, Consuwella; bonus children, Carmelita (Ricco), Brandon, Jasmine, Wayne, and Moriah; siblings, Shirlean Thomas, Michael Thomas, Sheryl Thomas, Ronald (Chanda) Thomas Jr, Derrick (Bella Vallejo) Thomas, and David Kelly; aunts and uncles, Kenneth Wilson, Linda Wilson, Pamela Perria, and Walter Perria; great aunt, Naomi Harris; 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
