Ramon was born to Ray and Minnie (Hughes) Lockhart on October 24, 1926 in Foster, MO. He was united in Marriage to Gwen (Bain) Lockhart until her passing on December 31, 2021. He was a graduate of Butler High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Central Missouri. While attending UCM, Ramon earned the first varsity letter in golf awarded at the college. His time at UCM resulted in a 55 year teaching career, not only in Missouri but in California, Michigan, and Kansas as well. Until his retirement in 2006, Ramon taught high school chemistry, physics, and math, even earning a Missouri State Teacher of the Year award.
Along with his teaching career, Ramon was a proud US Army veteran. He served in WWII, seeing the last months of the war in the Pacific Theatre. He spoke frequently of his time in Shanghai, Tokyo, and Korea.
Ramon had a passion for music. He owned record stores in Waynesville and Rolla as well as hosting the “Tuxedo Junction” show on the Rolla public radio station. He also DJ’d at Bobby Buford’s in Columbia as well as other local spots. Ramon also had a great love of golf including time as a golf pro at the Cherokee Country Club in Wisconsin.
In addition to his wife and parents, Ramon is preceded in death by grandson, Dustin Twellman.
He is survived by his children, Joyce (Bill) Noble and Ramona Twellman; grandchildren, Angela (Todd) Caraway, Jennifer Noble, and Daniel (Julie Schwartz) Noble; and great grandchildren, Samantha, Nick, Zachary, Ari, and Noah.
