Paula Mayse

Anna Pauline Mayse (Paula) of Columbia, Missouri, formerly residing in Redlands, California, passed away peacefully Monday, October 30th, 2017 at Boone Hospital center surrounded by family. Services will be held at Memorial funeral home in Columbia, Missouri on Friday, November, 3rd, 2017, visitation at 10:00 am, memorial service at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Paula was born March 14th, 1926 to Sue Mildred (Rowe) Rich and Kenneth Franklin Rich in Redlands, California. On May 2nd of 1945 she married her life’s love Lloyd Joe Mayse (Joe) and together they raised a son, Donald Leete Mayse (Don), born March 9th, 1947. Together they resided in Redlands, California until 1965 when the family moved to Columbia, Missouri where Don was to attend college. They established many real estate and business ventures together. While residing in California they started and operated a meat packaging and delivery company. After moving to Missouri, they were among a small group that founded the Columbia Sportsman’s Club and as a joint venture with Don and his wife Marylou, they founded Midwest Gold & Gem Corporation. Both are still in operation and thriving today. Additionally they founded and operated Silver Key Realty, a successful real estate agency in Columbia for many years. Paula, Joe, and Don also embarked on a real estate development project known as Leisure Oak; a neighborhood tailored for adults nearing and post retirement where she resided for almost 33 years.

Paula had many occupations through the years. She worked at JC Penny’s in sales, at a newspaper doing clerical work and advertising for the hotel and restaurant industry. She was also involved in marketing for the meat business that served customers throughout the state of California. Additionally she acquired her real estate license and sold real estate in the Columbia area for Silver Key Realty. After founding Midwest Gold and Gem Corporation in 1980, she dedicated all of her work efforts to its success, doing clerical and office work through most of 2017. Paula loved all of her occupations, but took special pride in her contributions to the various family businesses. They benefited greatly for all the effort and care she dedicated to their success.

Her grandson, Brian Mayse, his wife, Jennifer, and their two children, MaKenna and Colten, survives Paula. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe in 1985, and son Don in 2015. Paula lived a long and joyful life surrounded by great friends whom she adored. She made a great contribution to all of our lives as a loving family member and friend. She will be deeply missed.
