Matthew Clay Reed

He was born May 12, 1966 in Columbia to Lloyd and Patricia (Gordon) Reed. A 1984 graduate of Hickman High School, Matt loved sports and was active on the swim team and golf team. He continued these activities into his adult years. He was also an avid Cardinals, Chiefs, Mizzou and Blues fan. He loved sharing these passions and notably took his son Tyler to his first Blues hockey game as a birthday gift a few years ago, which was a memory they both cherished.

Matt was also a big music lover and enjoyed going to concerts. He recently traveled across the country to see the Allman Brothers in one of their last performances. He also had an artistic side and could often be found tie dyeing or doing liquid light shows. He was thrilled that he was able to provide liquid lights backdrops for some of his favorite bands.

For more than 20 years, Matt was the lot manager at Missouri Auto Auction.

His easygoing and caring spirit will be missed.

Matt is survived by his son, Tyler (Grace) Reed; parents, Lloyd and Patricia Reed; sister, Nicole Reed; former wife, Christine Carrier, all of Columbia; grandpa, Joseph Wayne Miller of St. Louis, longtime close friend, Indigo Carrow, of Clark; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 West in Columbia.
