Leslie Bennett, age 61, of Columbia, Missouri passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Boone Hospital after a courageous battle with lung disease.
Leslie was born March 10, 1961 in Columbia to the late Howard and Carlene (Crane) Bennett. He was a graduate of Hickman High School and was active in Special Olympics basketball and bowling. After graduation, he moved into Boone County Group Homes where he really gained his independence and worked at the Central Missouri Sheltered Enterprise. He really enjoyed working there and making his own money. With guidance, he eventually moved into his own apartment. Leslie will best be remembered by his friends and family for his kind and gentle spirit.
Leslie is survived by sisters Marilyn Allen (John) of Fulton, Ramona Lane (Marland) of Columbia, and Carla Bennett of Columbia; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Victor Ray.
Leslie will be cremated and services and interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy can be sent to Boone County Family Resources, 2700 W. Ash St., Columbia, MO 65203.
