Jim was born in Lebanon, MO on July 14, 1938, to Glen and Sybil (Rogers) Agan. Jim was one of four children and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1956. Jim joined the Army and served for three years, including 13 months in post-war Korea. On his return from the Army, Jim went to IBM School in Indiana and then went to work at MFA Insurance (now Shelter Insurance) in 1961 and dedicated more than 40 years to IT before retiring.
He was married to Connie Bennett on July 12, 1964 and they were blessed with 60 years of marriage.
Jim loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their band concerts. He enjoyed life outdoors, spending many hours gardening, cutting wood and fishing. Jim enjoyed watching western movies, listening to 50’s music, collecting pocket knives and working on chainsaws and lawn mowers. He loved history of any kind and enjoyed visiting historic sites.
Jim is survived by his wife, Connie of the home, his daughter, Stephanie of Columbia, his grandchildren, Evan and Claire Wilder of Harrisburg and son-in-law, Mike Wilder of Harrisburg. He is also survived by his siblings, Mary Lee (Earl) Bowlin of Springfield, MO, Glenda Potter of Lebanon, MO, Roger Agan of Lebanon, and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his infant son, Wesley Glen Agan, and his daughter, Stacy Lynn Agan Wilder in addition to his parents. He was also predeceased by his brother-in-law, Robert Potter; his sister-in-law, Marcia Agan, and his niece, Holly Bowlin.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31st at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 West, Columbia, MO. A memorial service will immediately follow. Jim will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery.
