Geraldine “Gerry” Burke

Geraldine “Gerry” Burke, 90, of Columbia, Missouri passed away on Friday, January 22, 2016. Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, January 25, 2016 from 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 PM at the funeral home. A private burial at Memorial Park Cemetery will follow. Gerry was born in Boonville, MO on November 22, 1925 to William and Grace (Whitehurse) Hilden. She graduated from St. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Boonville and attended St. Mary’s College in Leavenworth, KS. She married John Burke in Boonville, Mo in 1948. After moving to Columbia, she was employed as an Administrative Assistant in the Department of Sociology at the University of Missouri-Columbia for 17 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Survivors include two daughters: Susan Elliott (Gary) of Chillicothe and Diane Mountjoy (David) of Columbia; sister Kathy Eilenberger of Leawood, KS; and five grandchildren: Robin Elliott, Kristine Ker, Robie Burke Elliott, Steven Mountjoy, Mark Mountjoy; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, an uncle and aunt Charles and Evelyn Bechtold; brother William Hilden, and a great grandchild. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
