Gary Allen Larkin passed away peacefully on November 11, 2024 in Columbia, Missouri. On July 9, 1950, Gary was born as the number one son of Gentry and Irene Larkin in St. Louis, Missouri. After he graduated from high school, he moved to Columbia, Missouri to attend Mizzou. It was there that he met the love of his life, Nancy Tucker. They married on August 23, 1975 in Leesburg, Missouri. They were married for 49 blissful years.
After graduating from Mizzou, Gary became a carpenter. He started Larkin Construction Inc. in 1985 and built a business known for its integrity, quality work, strong ties to the community, and a labrador mascot named Queenie. Gary’s pride of workmanship, meticulous attention to detail, and tireless work ethic were the foundations of his success. He begrudgingly retired from construction in 2021.
Family and friends meant everything to Gary. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Gary was larger than life and known for his sense of humor and jovial nature. He always made sure everyone around him was having a good time, whether they were fishing, golfing, hiking or just shooting the shit.
Gary will be missed tremendously by his wife; two daughters and their families; siblings; hundreds of Tucker in-laws, nephews, and “favorite” nieces; and many friends. Gary’s legacy will live on through the love he shared and the memories his friends and family will cherish forever.
The Larkin family thanks you for your kindness, support, and prayers during this difficult time.
