Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Monday, December 6, 2021 with Funeral Services at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Donald was born May 16, 1934 in Boone County, Missouri the son of Leo T. Lorton and Nina R. (Berry) Lorton. On August 22, 1953 he was united in marriage to Lois D. Nichols who preceded him in death in 2013. He was a lifelong Boone County resident, and was employed by the City of Columbia as a heavy equipment operator of 40½ years. If you lived in his neighborhood, you would remember him as the gentleman on the porch swing on Brown Station Drive. When he wasn’t visiting with his neighbors, he could be found tinkering in his garage.
Donald is survived by one daughter, Deborah Melloway of Columbia; one granddaughter, Angie (Brandon) Mabe of Centralia; one grandson, Adam (Krystle) Melloway of Hallsville; three great grandchildren, Ashleigh, Kale, and Kruze Melloway; one brother, Larry (Sharon) Lorton of Columbia; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
