

Salvatore Michael Brocato was born on December 27, 1933 and went home to the Lord on February 28, 2012, peacefully in the presence of his loving family and many friends. Sal is survived by his loving wife Frances McKenna Brocato, his daughters and sons: Donna Nomick and her husband George, Lisa Ducote and her husband Ronald, Carol Vujanic and her husband Aleksandar, Jeffrey Bolster and his wife Michelle, David Bolster and his wife Deborah, Michael Brocato and his wife Nicole. Through his children, Sal was richly blessed with twenty grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of whom were the delight of his life.
Sal proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1956-1958. He was an important part of the local business community with his barber shop in the Village Green Shopping Center in Howard County. Sal may best be known for touching the hearts of many people through his musical gifts. As an accomplished jazz bassist, he played with many distinguished musicians over the span of 60 years. In addition Sal created and played in his bands “Sophisticated Swing” and “Talk of the Town”. Sal was a devout Christian and mentor to many and will be cherished for generations to come.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Witzke Funeral Homes, Inc., 5555 Twin Knolls Road, Columbia, MD 21045 on Saturday, March 3rd and Sunday, March 4th, 3-5pm & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March, 5th, 11am at the Ellicott City Assembly of God, 10600 Frederick Rd., Ellicott City, MD 21042. Interment Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to the church.
