Donnie was born to David and Ola’May Foster on February 10, 1941 in Guilford, North Carolina. She was the beloved wife of the late William Dean, cherished mother of Ferris Dean, loved grandmother to Titan Dean, dearest sister to Shirley Baker and David Foster, and most precious friend to many.
Donnie received her Bachelor’s degree in 1962 from the Winston-Salem State University. She moved to Maryland where she became a teacher for the Howard County Public School System, enriching the minds of elementary children for many years. Donnie met her husband of 33 years, William Dean, and together had one son: Ferris William Dean.
Donnie was a strong, smart, energetic woman who loved spending time dancing, cooking, and baking delicious cakes and meals for her family, tending to her garden and roses. She was also a long time, active member of St. John Baptist Church, serving as an Usher, and an active member of Delta Sigma Theta. She loved to decorate the house for every holiday, and you couldn’t tell her otherwise. She loved a glass of wine and spending time with her friends every Sunday. She will be sorely missed by all who loved her, and will forever be in my memories and heart.
Donnie is survived by her son, Ferris W. Dean; and grandson, Titan M. Dean. She is also survived by her sister Shirley Baker and her brother David Foster.
