Vic, better known as Chip to his family and friends, was the eldest of nine children. The son of Victor and Anna Mae (Fritzie) Bengard. He was a compassionate man who lived life to the fullest. He was a family man who loved his wife Linda, his children and grandchildren with every ounce of his heart and soul. He was always the happiest when they were near. He instilled in his children the value of family and how important it is to never take for granted the precious time you have together.
He had a fierce love for God and his country. A conservative man with strong morals, he would stand up for what he believed in and never wavered, but would always respect the opinions of others. Whether you were discussing religion, politics or baseball. He held fast to his beliefs.
This was a man who loved fine wine, food , a good cigar, good music (frank), and being surrounded by good company. He loved when the Bengard's would all get together and he was with his siblings sharing stories from their childhood. He also loved vacationing with his wife, kids and grandkids. One place Vic liked to vacation often was Flagstaff, Arizona. He was fortunate enough to visit there this last November one last time.
Though it was unspoken, Vic knew he was a walking miracle and God had granted him more time in this life. The last 16 months he and Linda lived life to the fullest. They spent quality time with their kids and grandchildren, visited with friends and took many vacations. They were always together and their love for each other grew and was witnessed by all who knew them.
Vic left a lasting impression wherever he went. A gentle giant with a powerful voice. Walking into the nail salon for his pedicures (who would of thought) greeting the girls with "HELLO LADIES!" or chatting with all the barbers at his weekly beard trims. You knew Vic was in the room. Even when he wasn't feeling well he had a smile on his face.
Although Victor is gone his legacy will live on forever in the faces of his children, his grandkid's smiles and their loving hugs. All our lives have been changed for the better because we had the opportunity to know Vic and share in his life. Vic and Linda held true to their marriage vows, for better or worse in sickness and health till death do us part.
