Words cannot express how thankful I am to have had you in my family's life, and for what you gave to my mother.  You provided my mother with the happiest years of her life, even at those times when happiness was hard to come by.  Upon our first meeting, I could tell that you had been the partner she had been looking for, and I was so glad that she had found you.

You were a most wonderful and loving grandfather to my children and nephews, and because of you, they have many happy memories of the times spent with you and my mom while they were growing up.

You provided me with an older (slightly older) sister, whom we all love and share an incredible bond with.

For all of the above, I am eternally grateful.  I know that you are now with my mother and that the honeymoon that was interrupted by her illness, is once again in full swing.  

I take great comfort in knowing that you are now at peace and reunited with her, and though I am sad for our loss on earth,  I know that you are both dancing to the songs of angles in Heaven, and that my friend, will always bring a smile to my face.

God speed Dad.  I love you.

my dear brother, i hope this new adventure you are on proves to be the best of them all. you had so many talents and i admired you for making your dreams come true so often. but God sometimes has other ideas of what he wants for us. but He wanted you and judi to be reunited and now you have met our french grandfather and know what he is like. i look forward to knowing him one day as all of us are bathed in God's light in front of his throne. i love and miss you so much big brother. i know you are so happy now.

Dear Gavin and Barbee Families, my prayers and thoughts are with you even tho' I can't be there in person. Tom's passing has come much too soon; perhaps he has found peace at last. He will be missed by all of us, along with his beloved wife, Judi. Much love, lots of hugs,

Many years before my Grandma Judi Gavin passed away, she met a man named Tom Gavin. I did not know who he was until I heard the news about him and my Grandma being together. When my parents told me that we were going to go and meet him for the very first time (and I was only a child like my sister back then), I did not know what to expect. But I remember we went to Red Robin (if I remember correctly) and there he was. I did not know anything about him, but after the day me, my sister, and my parents met him, he treated us like family. He even treated me and my sister like his own grandchildren, and it went on for over a decade. One of the things about him, he always made sure everyone and everything was okay. When we were doing well and happy, he was happy. Whenever we were struggling, he was there beside my Grandma, and he was there for us, for my parents, for my sister, for me. He did not just encourage the family to do well, but he also encouraged his Grandchildren to do well especially when it came to High School. He did not just encourage us, but he taught us a lot along the way. He was not just a incredible Grandfather, but he was a wonder teacher. He wanted nothing for the best for everyone. And when he married my Grandma, I knew once again that he wanted nothing but the best for her. After the years of knowing my Grandpa Tom, I can say I have learned a lot from him. He was kind, friendly, loving, and our memories with him will be cherished for as long as we live.
