On November 21, 2020, Marie Danno Sarkisian passed away in Orange County, California, at the age of 93. Originally from Orange, New Jersey, Marie had six siblings: Sam, Connie, Joe, George, Vince, and Jim.
Marie came to California after becoming a Registered Nurse at Saint Joseph’s Hospital to live with her brother Sam who was a practicing physician in Los Angeles. Marie began her career at the LA County USC Hospital advancing to a lead position as operating room nurse.
Classmates introduced Marie to her soulmate Vaughn. They were married at the Santa Barbara Mission in 1959 and celebrated the joys of living in Southern California, moving from South Pasadena, to Santa Monica, and finally settling in Villa Park in 1974. They were married for 60 years and were blessed with two sons.
After the boys were born, Marie became an active homemaker and a volunteer at Saint Norbert’s Catholic Church. She participated in their Meals on Wheels program and was a member of their Italian Catholic Federation.
In addition to her husband Vaughn, Marie is survived by her son Aram who is a correctional educator in Chino, her son Gregor who is a Professor of Community Psychology at Antioch University in Los Angeles, her daughter-in-law Brizeida who is a homemaker, her granddaughter Marie Regina, and her grandson Paulo Pio.
Marie will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and those she touched through her Roman Catholic ministry and nursing. Marie’s strong faith, her delicious recipes, and her family traditions will continue on through her grandchildren.
