Jeff Sugarray Paul Robinson Tani, age 69, of Loma Linda, passed way peacefully on August 26, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born on June 19, 1955 in Ujung Pandang, Makasar, Indonesia to Hans Paul Tani and Roos Rompis. Jeff was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Jeff graduated from SLA Kawangkoan high school in Indonesia, in 1974. He then went to earn a degree in ministry in 1978, from the previously known, Institute Theology Keguruan Advent (ITKA), which is now called Indonesian Adventist University, also known as “Unai” (UNAI), in Bandung, Indonesia. It was in this fine institution where he met his future wife, Meidske Lalujan and they were married in 1981. Together, they raised three children.
After graduation, he worked in ministry and was a youth pastor at Tharmin Satu Church for 7 years. In 1986 he, and his family, were in the US and they settled in San Bernardino, California.
Jeff began a new line of work here in The States working in warehouses for a decade, even becoming a supervisor of in one of them for the Los Angeles Times. A massive stroke nearly took him out, but by the grace of God he recovered and went back to the work force. He worked as a truck driver and a security guard, all while running a business with his wife, Meidske and their children.
As a testament for his love for God, Jeff was an active member of the church. He became one of the pioneers for the Redlands Indonesian Seventh-Day Adventist Church and was a ministry coordinator. With his devotion to Jesus Christ, he was also devoted to his family and found joy in being with his wife, his children and spending time with his grandchildren.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Meidske, his three children Indra (Maria Susanti) Tani, Shinta (Max) Page and Prima Tani (Justin Kaneali’i); and 9 grandchildren, Alana, Jethro, Hannah, Anuhea, Dylon, Benson, Meilynn, Kapua and Jameson. He was preceded in death by his parents Hans Paul Tani and Roos Rompis.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held on Thursday, September 12th, 2024, at 9:30 a.m., at Montecito.
Jeff’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Loma Linda University Medical Center and DaVita Dialysis for their compassionate care.
