Dedicated Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Friend
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Domingo Alcala Gonzalez, affectionately known as "Mingo". Mingo passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, December 6, 2024, at the age of 79.
Mingo was born on March 30, 1945, in Michoacán, Mexico, and made his way to the United States in 1960, eventually settling in Victorville, California. He attended junior college before beginning a lifelong career that spanned various fields, including labor, fabrication, and entrepreneurship. Mingo’s work ethic was unparalleled, and his unwavering dedication to his family defined his life.
In 1970, Mingo met the love of his life, Juanita “Juana,” at a Tardíada, and the two were married in 1977. Mingo’s family was his top priority and he made every effort to provide them with love and support. He often expressed that his family meant more to him than anything else in the world, and he made sure to share that love and devotion every day.
Mingo was a force of nature—strong, loving, and endlessly supportive. He was the most devoted husband, father, and grandfather anyone could hope for, and his legacy lives on in the hearts of those he loved. He is survived by his beloved wife, Juana; his three daughters, Theresa, MaryHelen, and Nancy; four stepchildren; 26 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. His surviving siblings include his brothers Jose, Luis, Mario, and Raul, and sisters Raquel and Magdalena. Mingo’s love and impact reached far and wide, touching the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Mingo’s life will be held at Montecito Memorial Park on Friday, January 3rd, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. In honor of Mingo’s life and the joy he found in living, the family invites everyone to carry forward his spirit by doing something that brings you true happiness, and sharing that joy with others. If you are so moved, please reach out to share that moment or another joyful memory you shared with Mingo.
May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
