Alice Emilie Stiel
Alice Emilie Stiel passed away on Tuesday, February 18th, 2020 in Redlands, California at the age of 89. Alice was born September 13th, 1930 in Warsaw, Poland to Karl and Emma Dalke. She was the oldest of four siblings.
During World War II Alice and her family were forced to leave Poland and they moved to Krefeld, Germany where she spent her childhood and early adult years. When Alice was 21, she decided to move to Toronto, Canada on her own. Here she worked as a seamstress. This is also where she met her husband, Henry Stiel. They were married in 1953. A few years after marriage they had a daughter, Jeanette. In 1962 the family decided to move to Southern California. Shortly after arriving there, Alice and Henry entered into the mobile home industry and built two mobile home parks. Together they carved out a life through hard work and dedication. She took great pride in this.
Alice’s passion in life was travel. She loved traveling all over the world. She especially enjoyed going back to Canada to visit with family as often as she could.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Merritt; son-in-law, Dan Merritt; granddaughter, Laura Merritt; grandson, Andrew Merritt; and sister, Anne Engel.
