William Burke Lawless

William began his life’s journey on October 13, 1919 in Wesley, Iowa. He moved shortly thereafter to a farm in Chatsworth, Illinois where he grew up with his family. Instead of staying on the farm he enlisted in the Army, and in 1937 joined the Strategic Air Command.

William served his country as a navigator on a bomber aircraft. His travels took him to England, Japan, Guam, Greenland, and many different places in the United States

Williams journey eventually led him to Hutchison, Kansas, where he met Ethel Mae Renfroe in February of 1946. It was love at first sight and they were married in March. The two traveled together until they arrived in Colorado Springs, where the settled and lived out the rest of their days together with the family they started.

William is greeted in Heaven by his wife Ethel M. Lawless, their daughter Pamela Yount, his brothers Jack and Bob Lawless, and his sister Eileen Davies.

He is survived and fondly remembered by his brother Frank Lawless, sister Donna Fisher, daughter Nancy Cantino and her husband Edward, son Bill Lawless, daughter Cathie Bowen and her husband Scott, daughter Margaret Lawless, granddaughter Jenni Helgoth, granddaughter Katie Rose Borden, grandson Patrick Lawless, and five great-grandchildren.

A Rosary will be held in Williams Honor at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday June 26, 2014 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3122 Poinsetta Dr., Colorado Springs, CO, immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial then a Reception. Burial will take place at 2:00 P.M. Thursday June 26, 2014 at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave., Colorado Springs, CO.
