Wayne A. Powell, husband, father, papa, brother, mountain man and football fan passed away peacefully on August 9th, 2020 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in Lebanon, Indiana, July 23, 1946 and grew up in Indianapolis.
Wayne served in the Army from 1966 to 1969. Shortly after leaving the service, he married his sweetheart Jane, wife of 51 years.
Prior to the birth of his daughter Jane Michelle in 1978, Jane and Wayne moved to Mooresville, Indiana. They raised their family in their home on Glen Drive and welcomed their son Ken in 1981.
Wayne started a second career by achieving his goal of earning an associate’s degree as an HVAC technician.
In 1993, Wayne realized one of his dreams by moving to Colorado. The appeal of the mountains and beauty of the state drove him to start a new chapter in his journey with his family in Colorado Springs.
Family was important to Wayne, he treasured watching his kids Janie and Ken and grandkids Ian, Warner, Ford and Henry grow, learn and achieve.
Wayne loved watching the Colts, Broncos, NASCAR races, army movies and westerns. He invested time in his children by taking his kids on hunting and fishing trips. The time spent having fun was the most important part of their adventures.
He leaves behind his best friend and love, his devoted wife Jane, for with her he was able to achieve so much more than he ever knew possible and was blessed greatly.
Memorial Services will take place at 11 am on Monday August 17th at Mountain View Mortuary located at 2350 Montebello Square Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80923. A Committal Service for family will follow at Pikes Peak National Cemetery.
