Terence Patrick (Terry) Gilmore died at home in Colorado Springs, Colorado on February 19, 2018 at the age of 60. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on August 17, 1957 to Wilson Gilmore and Rosemary Bechtel Gilmore Zicht, who preceded him in death.
Terry grew up in Upper Arlington, Ohio and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University. His 27-year career as a sales and marketing executive in the oil services industry took him from Ohio to California and ultimately Houston, where he worked for Flow Serve until his retirement in 2006.
It was in Houston that Terry met Patricia Rose. He and Trish were married in 1985. Terry and Trish retired to Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 2006, where they enjoyed hiking and exploring the outdoors with their beloved golden retrievers, Darby, Murphy and Sophie.
Terry was introduced to lacrosse in middle school, which began a life-long love for the game. He played on the newly-formed team at Upper Arlington High School, where he was leading scorer and a co-captain. At Ohio State, he was the all-time leading scorer in points, a record which still stands today. He earned All-American honors twice and became the first-ever lacrosse player inducted into the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame.
After college, Terry continued playing on various club, masters and grand masters lacrosse teams, traveling to tournaments across the country.
Terry coached youth, high school and college lacrosse in Houston and Colorado Springs, allowing him to share his love and knowledge of the game, while developing leadership skills in the young players he coached.
His was preceded in death by his sister Leslie Gilmore Carter and brother Timothy Wilson Gilmore.
Besides Trish, his wife of 32 years, Terry is survived by his sister, Donna (Dan) Donovan of Upper Arlington, stepfather Robert Zicht of Upper Arlington, and step-siblings Eric (Jennifer) Zicht of Vienna, VA, Laurie (Chuck) Sargent of Bethel Park, PA, Cheryl (Scott) Tate of Lake City, CO and Robert (Karen) Zicht of Tampa, FL, as well as several nieces and nephews.
