Dick, 83, was born January 7, 1933, second child to Florence and James McDowell of Manzanola, Colorado. He graduated high school in Rye, Colorado. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. Dick met his beloved wife, Carmela Costa, in Pueblo, Colorado on March 25, 1954, and married her on September 11 that same year. They would have celebrated their 62nd anniversary next September.
He worked primarily in finance, eventually becoming the Regional Vice President of Majestic Savings and Loan. He loved trout fishing, especially on the Conejos River. He was a virtuoso on the harmonica, playing the guitar as well. Dick was an accomplished woodcrafter, and several of his children and grandchildren have beautiful pieces of furniture to remember him by.
Dick is survived by his wife, five children, Alexia, Dennis, Jama, Maralee, and Jeana, 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren (with another on the way). He was supremely proud of each and every one of them.
