Peter G. Peterson died April 8, 2012 after a short illness. He was born July 24, 1929 in Tekamah, NE, the fourth of seven children to Leslie Peterson and Eldora Lewis. He joined the Army in 1948, serving in Korea, 1rst Bat., 24th Inf. Div., 21st Reg., C Co. where he earned a Purple Heart and 5 Korean Service Medals.
Returning to Tekamah, Pete married Joan Schmitz, Blair, NE, Jan. 10, 1953. They had four children, Sandra Meadows, Joplin MO, Randall and Jeffrey, Phoenix AZ and Dennis, West Des Moines IA, who survive. The family lived in southern CA. Pete worked various jobs from 1957-1970, before moving to Colorado Springs.
Pete attained his Journeyman Plumber License in 1977 and married Dorothy Peterson, Oct. 4, 1978 in Longview TX. Her daughters Cathy Miller and Candy Furnish, Colorado Springs also survive. They returned to Colorado Springs where he continued to work as a plumber and realtor for Coldwell Banker Walker Realty and Co. Pete was the plumbing consultant for the first Home Depot in the Springs before retiring.
His wife, Dorothy, preceded him in death, as well as four brothers, and two great-grandchildren. Pete’s sisters Veda Abbott of MN and Vada Cassell of CA, ten grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren survive.
Memorial Gardens Chapel will have a viewing Wednesday, April 11 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, and funeral Thursday April 12 at 1:00pm. Memorials suggested to DAV or Radiant Church.
