Pauline M. Howell

She was born in Gregory, SD on July 20, 1922, to Albert & Edna (Jones) Drey and was raised on a farm in Burke, SD. She traveled to Colorado Springs in the late 40’s to visit her brother and fell in love with Colorado and decided to stay. She met her future husband, Ernest Howell, married on Dec. 15, 1951, and eventually settled in Security, CO. She was a wonderful lady...was non-judgmental, believed it was important to have a positive outlook and to always eat dessert first! She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her 2 daughters Candice (Ronald) Gordon of NC and Marcia (Jim) Steel of Colorado Springs; 3 grandchildren: Ronald II (Kassandra) Gordon, Kelly Gordon (Nick Nelms) and Aaron Grubbs (Cecily Lerma); 3 great-grandchildren: Peyton Gordon and Daisy & Marigold Nelms; a step-granddaughter Evelyn Steel and step-great grandson Maddax Henderson-Steel, sister Marcy Acton of FL and numerous nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Howell, 5 brothers (Virgil, Vernon, Lyle, Gerald & Marvin Drey) and 1 sister (Vivian Leibel).

A visitation will be held Saturday November 19, 2022, from 2:00pm-4:00pm, at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, CO. A private burial will be held at a later date.
