Nancy Gilley was born, February 12, 1917 in Sharon Springs, KS to Gustav and Mina Heisler. In 1919 the family moved to South Park in Colorado for Mina’s health. Nancy graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1935. While living in South Park she often helped cook at some of the larger ranches. Nancy married Carl Gilley, of Lake George, CO, on August 11, 1948. She later went to work at Sumner’s Store in Lake George and was an Assistant Post Master there before she retired at the age of 65. She passed away peacefully on October 29, 2013 in Colorado Springs.
Nancy was an avid reader and read her Bible daily. She also loved to read westerns, especially Zane Grey, as well as lots of other books. She enjoyed crafts, making quilts, riding horses, and traveling. She loved to go shopping and out to lunch with friends. And she would always have a bit of chocolate every day for a snack.
She leaves behind her two children, Donald Gilley of Florissant, CO and Lee Gilley and wife Leueen of Lake George. She is also survived by her six grandchildren; Jennifer Gallagher, Sarah and Michael Gilley, Arron, Caylon, and Fawn Kramp.
There are also a great number of nieces, nephews, and their families.
Nancy was preceded in death by mother, father, brothers, sister, and husband Carl.
Visitation will take place on Monday, November 4, 2013 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Community Fellowship of Christians in Lake George. This will be followed by a service at 11:00 and internment at Lake George Cemetery. Everyone is then welcome to return to the church for a luncheon.
