Michael Duane Henderson (age 62) departed this Earth to be with the Lord on March 21, 2020, as a result of a tragic work-related accident.
Michael was born in Plainview, Texas and was raised by his mother, Mrs. Beverly Henderson, and his adoptive father, Stanley Henderson (deceased). Michael and his wife Carol were married June 25, 1988 and resided in Colorado Springs.
As a youth, Michael was an avid horseman and participated in many equestrian events around the country including Polo. Mike began square dancing as a child which he continued into adulthood, and where he eventually met his future wife Carol. Their dancing brought them many years of pleasure as well as the company of great friends. Later on in life Michael became interested in bicycling and hiking, and there are not many trails in Colorado that have not been graced by Michael’s presence.
Michael is survived by his wife, Carol J. Henderson of Colorado Springs, his mother, Beverly Henderson of Colorado Springs, his sister, Sherri Leckenby and brother-in-law, David Leckenby of Colorado Springs, his niece, Kendra Leckenby of Falcon, Colorado, and many other family members.
Unfortunately, the Coronavirus and government restrictions have preempted the possibility of a formal funeral with flowers and a public gathering to mourn Mike’s passing. In the absence of flowers, Carol and Mike have always supported the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and donations to this organization would be greatly appreciated.
