Maynard Asher White, longtime Colorado Springs resident, passed peacefully on May 13, 2015. He was born December 31, 1934 in Lost Springs, Wyoming, to Asher and Zelma White. He graduated from Nampa High School in Idaho and shortly after joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Following his military service he married Doris Nussbaum, the love of his life, who preceded him in death.
He enjoyed work and had a varied career including sales, finance, and management positions among others. He fulfilled his dream of running his own business when he opened Rockrimmon Liquors and later started another successful store, Rampart Liquors. He also especially enjoyed working in maintenance at KKTV in his later years. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and could be found any day of the week at his favorite spot, The Big Train restaurant. He was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
Maynard is survived by his son, Scott White and wife Therese, daughter, Susan Meeks and husband Paul, granddaughter Amy Sullivan and husband James, grandson Michael White, and great granddaughter MacKenzie Sullivan of Colorado Springs, siblings Rita Folwell, Clarence Lee White and Rose Hunt of Idaho, and Dawna Bratten of California.
Grave-side services will be held Saturday, May 23 at Monument Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. A reception will be held immediately following at The Church of Woodmoor, 18125 Furrow Rd, Monument, CO.
