Mary C. Gonzales

Mary Cleopatra Gonzales was born on May 21, 1923 in Trinidad Colorado to Meliton Lopez and Maria C. Herrera, Mary was 1 of 8 children. She was preceded in death by sisters: Betty Pearson (Edward), Dorotea Lopez, and Anne Lopez; brothers, Max Lopez (Hope), Ernesto Lopez (Louise), and James Lopez; she is survived by a sister Josephine Rivera in Pueblo Colorado.

Meliton was a migrant farm laborer and moved his family often, Mary grew up living in many Colorado towns including Trinidad, Padroni, and Ordville. Mary married Jose Hilario Gonzales on December 20, 1943 in Sterling, Colorado. Mary met Jose while he was working with her Dad in the beet field. Jose and Mary later moved to Colorado Springs in 1957.

Mary is preceding in death by her loving husband Jose Gonzales, who died in 2012 after 68 years of marriage, She is survived by daughters: Dora Jean Chacon (Robert), Rebecca Pedone (Anthony), Pamela Gonzales, Cynthia Holbrook, and Rene Gonzalez (Pete); Sons: Tom Gonzales, and Joseph Gonzales (Virginia); Preceded in death by her youngest son Kenneth Gonzales. She is also survived by 19 Grandchildren, 53 Great Grandchildren and 14 Great Great Grandchildren.
