Marilyn "Lynn" Joan Cassidy, age 80, a resident of Colorado Springs passed away on March 28, 2017 at her home with family at her side.
Lynn was born November 25, 1936 in Indianola, Iowa to the late Forrest and Juanita Hatcher Graves. After graduating from high school in Lamoni, Iowa, Lynn joined the US Air Force. While attending Air Force training in Illinois she met her husband, William J. Cassidy, who was also in the Air Force and they married on December 15, 1956.
Upon William's retirement from the Air Force the family remained in Colorado Springs, and Lynn pursued a career in accounting; specializing in income tax preparation. She maintained a home based accounting business for over 30 years.
Lynn was a long time member of Holy Apostles Church. Lynn enjoyed going to thorough bred horse races, and traveling, especially to see her cousins and friends from the military. She enjoyed spending time at the beach and in the mountains In 2001 she and William relocated to Florida, where they lived for several years enjoying the visits of friends and family. They returned to Colorado Springs in 2006.
Lynn is survived by her husband, William J. Cassidy, her sons; Shawn Cassidy, and Thomas Cassidy, her daughters; Regina Cassidy and Christina Cassidy, her grandson, Chance Cassidy, and her granddaughters, Sierra Cassidy and Grace Cassidy. She is also survived by two sisters, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and a sister.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested donations in Marilyn Cassidy's name to National Jewish Health, 1400 Jackson St., Denver, Colorado 80206, so they may continue research and treatment of pulmonary diseases.
Visitation will take place Sunday, 2 April, 2017, 11:00 am - 1:00 p.m. at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday, 3 April, 2017, 1000 a.m. at Holy Apostles Church, Colorado Springs, Colorado. A reception will follow Mass. Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado on 4 April, 2017 at 1000 a.m.
