Margie Marvela Jinks

Margie M. Jinks, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away suddenly on May 20, 2016. She was born to Jake J. and Carmen E. (Maldanado) Romero on June 21, 1947 in Romeo, Colorado.

Her early years were spent growing up in a home on Colorado Avenue near 22nd Street and attending grade school nearby. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1965; and after a few years of raising her two children, she reentered the academic world and the work force. The successful completion of her classwork led to a degree in Computer Science.

She worked as a Systems Analyst for Aerospace Companies developing complex computer models, working with classified satellites, and testing ballistic missile defense solutions. During the early phase of this employment period she obtained her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Webster University. While in the workplace she prided herself in the way she dressed. A brightly colored sports jacket with coordinated slacks, a tailored blouse, and shined shoes was topped off by an attractive lapel pin. Of course the clothing had to be of the latest style, or as she said, not “dated”.

Much of the joy of her life came from being with her dogs – a total of six Dobermans over the past 30 years. Their names, in order of arrival, are noteworthy: Nickels, Dimes, Penny, Susan B., Quarters, and Jackson. Jackson came pre named and the planned name of “Dollars” was obviated. He frequently can be seen walking around Cottonwood Creek Park collecting compliments for his good looks, and it is quite evident that he misses Margie.

She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband, Malcolm R (Max) Jinks, a son Kenneth K. Gayton, a daughter Desiree R. Greco, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Additional survivors are three sisters: Helen Johnson, Betty Gorman and Verna Pritchard; and two brothers; David Romero and Jake Romero. All survivors are from Colorado Springs except Jake who resides in Richmond, CA.

A celebration of Margie’s life is scheduled for Thursday May 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Apostles Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver at 1:30 p.m.
