Lorraine V. Bartalo, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away March 18, 2013 in Colorado Springs, Colorado from long-term complications due to heart disease. She was born in Port Chester, New York on May 4, 1932, to Rocco and Antoinette Migliaccio. She graduated from Mamaroneck High School and the New York State College for Teachers, and then taught elementary school before meeting her husband, Anthony J. Bartalo. She was a dedicated Air Force Officer’s wife and an active member of the Officers’ Wives Club. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a voracious reader. The family lived in a number of states before settling in Colorado Springs in 1974. She was a devoted mother to her six children, volunteering in their schools and supporting all of their activities.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years; her 6 children, Kenneth Bartalo, David (Sue) Bartalo, Deborah (Pat) Rice and Michael (Traci) Bartalo of Colorado Springs, Sue Bartalo (Dave Fischer) of Menlo Park, California and Stephen (Cristy) Bartalo of Tampa, Florida. She greatly enjoyed her 16 grandchildren: Christina, Nathaniel, Stephen, Tony R, Danny, Allie, Hannah, Abigail, Lydia, Gianna, Wesley, Bradley, Erica, Gioia, Tony B, and Nick; and is also survived by her siblings, Lola Kufta of Ontario, California and Robert (Lee) Migliaccio of Boise, Idaho.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 4925 North Carefree Circle, Colorado Springs, preceded by a viewing at 10:00 a.m. and a rosary at 10:30 a.m. A private burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs.
