Laura Mae Mason, 85 years, passed away on November 28, 2017, from a long battle with cancer in the comfort of her home of 60 years, in the presence of her loving family. Born in Waverly, Kansas, on June 6, 1932, she was the daughter of Herman and Mabel Meyer. She was the youngest of three children with two older brothers, Herman and Carroll. She married the love of her life, Donald Mason, in 1956. He was in the Army and was assigned to ENT Air Force Base. They immediately fell in love with Colorado and made it their home. Laura was a dedicated employee to School District 11, working nearly 40 years. She volunteered at hospice and her church until she was 80 years old. She was an avid sports fan and had many favorite teams, especially her "Rock Chalk" Kansas Jayhawks basketball team! Her favorite hobbies included playing cards (especially pinochle) with her friends and family, solving puzzles, baking, hiking, going to symphonies, and attending all family activities. Her true devotion was to her family and her friends. Laura and Don had three children: Debbie, Julie, and Steve, whom she raised after Don passed away in 1963. Laura is survived by her children Julie Renehan (Jeff), Steve Mason (Rochelle), and Doug MacAfee (husband to Debbie); her grandchildren Greg MacAfee (Kelli), Brad MacAfee (Jackie), Megan Renehan, Andrew Renehan, Tyler Renehan (Trish), Ryan Mason, and Brianna Mason; her great grandchildren Mason MacAfee and Margaret MacAfee; her beloved Shih Tzu, Petunia. Her husband Done, her brothers Herman and Carroll , and her precious daughter Debbie preceded her in death. Her funeral service will be held on December 5, 2017 at 11am at Divine Redeemer Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Abode Hospice of Colorado, Divine Redeemer Church, or the American Cancer Society. You will be missed Grandma Any-How (Mason's nickname for her)!
