

She joined Friendship Baptist Church in 1964 and served as a deaconess, usher and church clerk. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of Magnolia Chapter #14 Order of the Eastern Star, PHA over 55 years; a NAACP Diamond Life member; a member of Doves of Pikes Peak Assembly #52; and member of the Colorado Springs Urban League. She was known as a local historian, former Girl Scout leader and volunteered for many, many years in the community.
Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Roosevelt; two sons, Samuel and Carl; a daughter, Patricia; a grandson, Cameron; her parents, Buford, Sr. and Ruth; and five brothers, Henry Lee, Buford, Jr., Winslow, Carl Joe and Billy.
She leaves to cherish her memory four sons, Raymond, Alan, Larry, Sr. (Sherri) and Michael, Sr. (Jane); three daughters, Margaret (Michael), Theresa (Warren) and Vanessa (Warren, Sr.); 25 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Beulah and Barbara; a host of other relatives and lots of devoted friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, 633 East Dale Street in Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.
