Larry was born on March 28, 1937 in Colorado Springs, CO. He graduated Palmer High School, formerly Colorado Springs High school, in 1955. He served as a radioman in the Naval Reserves, Company A-106, from 1954 – 1962. One of his tours of duty was aboard the aircraft carrier USS Antietam. Larry was honorably discharged in 1962.
He began working at Current Inc., formerly LooArt Press Inc., in 1953 as a printing plate “transferrer”. He held several positions during his 27-year career at the famed Colorado Springs based company as a pressman, manufacturing supervisor, production manager and VP Manufacturing. Larry left Current Inc. in 1980 and started his own printing business, Control Color Inc. He took great pride in his lithographic reproductions of limited-edition artwork on a small single-color press keeping perfect registration. in 1992, after 12 years, Larry sold his business and retired at the age of 55.
Larry was an avid and well-known golfer, bowler, trap-shooter, fisherman, hunter and antique bottle collector – he achieved distinguished awards in numerous tournaments. During his retirement years Larry spent time in his yard, enjoyed vegetable gardening and cooking. Together with his wife, the “snowbirds” wintered in Tucson, AZ where entertaining with their community of friends and guests gave them much joy.
Larry is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart of nearly 66 years, Janet (Teats) Berridge, his three children, Jo, Ron and Tom Berridge; his three brothers, Virgil, Don and Roy; a sister, Linda Berridge. Numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Goldie Berridge and his brother Wayne.
At Larry’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
