Kaley went to be with her one-true Betrothed on February 27th, 2023 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Born in Emporia, Kansas on May 21st, 1974 to Kevin and Janet Simon and older sister, Jonna, she was involved in gymnastics and cheer all through middle school, high school (team captain), and college (team captain). She attended Mid-America Nazarene College where she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in accounting. After working at Yellowstone National Park for six months post-college she moved to Colorado Springs in the fall of 1996. She then worked at Focus on the Family; first as an Accountant and ultimately a Financial Analyst. That fall she began to attend New Life Church where she found a new depth of relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her true Husband. For the next eight years she helped lead a band of friends called the “Tribe” who shared life, backpacked across most of the National Parks in the Western U.S., and sought the Lord together. While on a camping trip with the Tribe, Kaley met Zach in September of 2004.
They were married on August 6th, 2005 and moved to Texas forsaking all (church, Tribe, and job) since Zach was attending pilot training for the U.S. Air Force. She soon became a mother in 2007 and had her first of three children. She and Zach hosted Bible studies and together began to teach their children at home. Kaley loved home schooling and pouring into her children through personal tutoring, read-alouds, music, and most of all devotions where she taught her children to memorize large passages of scripture, pray, and sing the old hymns. Outside the home she taught academic homeschool co-op classes, helped form/direct a hybrid classical education co-op, and counseled/encouraged countless men and women. She always found time to teach extracurriculars to her kids and beyond, from gymnastics, musical theater, Sunday School, youth group, photography and at the end of her life devoted her final energy to the local Christian Youth Theater group.
After having multiple miscarriages, Kaley was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016 and over the following years dealt with the effects of the cancer and subsequent miscarriages.
Kaley is survived by her husband, Zach and three children, Keziah (15), Zion (13), and Kacia (10). Her parents, Kevin and Janet Simon, her sisters Jonna and Kim.
Celebration of life service will be held on Monday, March 6th, at New Life Church – World Prayer Center at 11 AM with a viewing beginning at 10 AM. After the service she will be laid to rest at the U.S. Air Force Academy Cemetery. To RSVP, visit: https://www.evite.com/event/02C62U5JLHMFTINESEPNW35RAOWISY/
