It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Judith Ann Ives-Tournillon at the age of 77 in Colorado Springs. She left this world peacefully on March 15, 2023, surrounded by her daughter, Kara, and caregiver, Karla.
Judy was born in Minnesota on January 19, 1946, to parents Patricia Hartman and Wesley Kirkpatrick. Her family moved to Greeley, Colorado, where she spent her childhood on a ranch before settling in Colorado Springs. In 1983, she married Bill Tournillon, who survives her, along with her sister Kathy Kerr, daughters Lora Brown and Kara Shipman, and grandchildren Karly Loparco and Dillon Brown.
Judy worked in the banking industry throughout her career, but her favorite job was being a business owner. She owned and operated “The Bagel Lady” company with her daughter, Lora, delivering morning bagels, burritos, and pretzels to various businesses. She took great pleasure in making her customers happy and appreciated the freedom of being her own boss.
The family was everything to Judy. She cherished time with her husband, daughters, and grandchildren, sharing countless meals, BBQs, and picnics. Every holiday was special to her, with Christmas holding a special place in her heart. Judy was exceedingly generous during the holiday season, always finding unique ways to give to others. She rarely missed school and extracurricular events for her grandchildren, and she and her husband enjoyed camping and traveling together.
Aside from her family, Judy had many hobbies and passions. She was a member of the Diva's quilting club and spent much of her free time quilting. She collected Longenberger baskets and handmade porcelain dolls and loved baking desserts and sweet treats to share. She enjoyed attending arts and craft shows and getting fresh produce from local farmers' markets. Judy was also a faithful Christian, friend, and member of Church on the Ranch for the last ten years. Before that, she ministered to women through "Living in Light," a program dealing with trauma at Sunnyside Church, which positively impacted many lives. Lastly, Judy was passionate about music, finding great comfort in it until the end.
