Mr. John W. O’Hara passed away August 3, 2023, at age 74 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born on September 23, 1948, in Circleville, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents John H. and Jean F. (nee Fitzpatrick). John enlisted in the United States Army in January 1968. Several months later, he married the love of his life, Brenda (nee Forrest). John and Brenda O’Hara remained married for 55 years. John proudly served his country during the Viet Nam era. He continued to be an honorable and humble Army Veteran for decades that followed. Professionally, John worked as a maintenance mechanic, as well as a water-treatment and welding specialist at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS) for nearly 30 years. He was also employed part-time by Towne Park (Centura Penrose Hospital). During his free time, John was an avid, lifelong gun enthusiast. He also enjoyed working on various projects with his hands. John’s faith and conviction to the Lord Jesus Christ was strong, as he regularly prayed for, and helped others in need. On a personal level, most people who met or knew him will tell you that he was extremely easy to talk to, and that he was incredibly likeable. His family describes him as a deeply loving husband, father, and grandfather, was generous and gentle. They also speak of him as being sharp, witty, and most of all caring and compassionate. John was an extraordinarily hardworking and value-driven person, who made a positive impact on countless people throughout his lifetime. He is dearly missed by his family and friends. John is survived by his wife, Brenda (nee Forrest, age 73) and his two children John Christopher O’Hara (age 48), and Brian Scott O’Hara (age 46), Brian’s spouse Kelly Anne (nee Pastell, age 41), and three grandchildren – Devun (age 22), Braeden (19), and Delaney (age 4), who all continue to live in Colorado.
