She was born to the late Peter and Susie (Wiebe) Bartsch, Nov. 20, 1934 in Delft, MN. Jennie along with her family relocated to Reedley, CA in 1941 in search of better farmland. After completing her nursing training in the San Francisco Bay Area, she met Arthur Mitchell, the love of her life. They married in 1963 and bought their first house together in Walnut Creek, CA. After retirement, and driven by her love of grandchildren and mountains, they relocated to Colorado Springs, CO in 2005.
Jennie couldn't have been a better wife and mother, filling our home with color and joy. She had an amazing ability to always look at the bright side of every situation and to squeeze life out of every worthwhile endeavor. Making friends came naturally to Jennie. She loved to talk and socialize, and truly cared for those she met.
Jennie loved God, her family, the grandchildren, and nature. After retirement, she and her husband took many camping trips together, exploring the mountains of North America.
Jennie is survived by her husband Arthur Mitchell, children Will Mitchell of Colorado Springs and Russ Mitchell of Santa Fe, and grandchildren Sachi, Anneliese and McKinley. As well as numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends she considered family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings.
Jennie’s faith in God carried her home.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to the American Cancer Society.
