Janet W. LeBlanc, of Colorado Springs, Colorado was called to her heavenly home Wednesday, June 9, 2021 surrounded by family and friends.
Janet was born August 24, 1936 in Milford, Kansas to William Faye Hohman and Beulah Johnston Hohman. In 1956, she married the love of her life, James M. LeBlanc (Diggy). Her son, Mark Timothy, was born in 1957 while James was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. From there, The U.S. Army took the family to Germany, Thailand, and to Colorado where they planted roots. Janet spent her professional career in the field of accounting working for The Girl Scouts of America, then the International Typographical Union.
In her retirement, Janet enjoyed volunteering in the chaplain’s office at Evans Army Community Hospital and filing taxes for seniors through AARP. She delighted in her time spent with a dynamic group of women with whom she shared a passion for crafting and friendship. Janet was also an avid golfer and a lover of crossword puzzles, or good “whodunit” novels. Janet had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, “adopted” grandchildren, and neighborhood kids. Throughout their time together, she spoiled them with endless pots of her signature homemade mac n’ cheese, countless shared episodes of Winnie the Pooh, hand sewn quilts, book recommendations, abundant love, encouragement, and grandmotherly advice. Most of all, Janet loved traveling with her friends and family, to places such as India, Philippines, Costa Rica, Alaska, Italy, Mediterranean, Caribbean Isles, Mexico, and Hawaii. Her personal favorite was Maui, which she revisited many times to play golf, sip mai tai’s, and create lasting memories with family.
Janet is survived by her husband of 64 years, James; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Susan; former daughter-in-law, Julie; brothers, William Hohman (Carol), Ed Hohman (Gloria); beloved grandchildren, Zachary LeBlanc, Katrina Trowbridge (Victor), Matthew Webb (Katherine Vaughan), Caitlyn Thomas (Colin); and numerous “adopted” adult children (you know who you are). She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother George Hohman (Jackye), and by her dogs, Penny, Mickey, Charlie, Chrissy, and Nicky.
The Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Swan Law Funeral Home (501 N. Cascade Avenue Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903).
