Janell was a resident of Colorado Springs for over 38 years, but still considered Houston, Texas her home. She was born February 1, 1946 to James and Irma Pinkston, Houston, Texas. Janell went to Lamar High and graduated in 1964. She and her husband were parents to two children but their marriage ended in divorce.
Janell earned a Bachelor's Degree in English and Literature at Southwestern University, and a Masters of Arts in Communications from UCCS.
Janell worked as a former Vice President for Membership at the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce. She received a Life Membership in the Chamber of Commerce for her efforts in raising the Chambers memebership.
She was given a YMCA Volunteer of the year award in 2011. She was active in raising funds for the YMCA for over 30 years. She developed her own company Effective Communication in June 1992.
Janell enjoyed dancing, music of all kinds, and helping others. Janell was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs. She was also an active member of PEO, a ladies organization.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, and brother, Walter Pinkston.
Janell is survived by her beloved husband of 25 years, Frank J. Klein, her children Mark and Michelle, her brother Michael, and five wonderful grandchildren, Liam, Madison, Cooper, TJ, and BethAnn. A Memorial Service is planned for Friday, August 11, 2023 at 5:00pm at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N Cascade.
