eventually became lead of the US Army Criminal Investigation Department of South and East Asia. He served a total of 28 years, retiring as CW4, the highest rank of Chief Warrant Officer at the time
of his retirement.
During his service, he was awarded: Bronze Star, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Metal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (5), Vietnam Cross of Gallantry (3), Vietnam Medal with 60 Device, Army Service Ribbon. He held a Bachelor Degree in Business Finance, and Master degrees in Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, and Ballistics.
In 1962 Jim met his beloved wife, Janice, in South Korea and they were married for 55 years before her passing in 2019. They traveled to many places and moved numerous times during their marriage, living
in Japan, South Korea, Washington DC, and several US states, until settling his family in Colorado Springs, CO in 1986.
Jim was an accomplished man of integrity. He was strong, intelligent and kindhearted, a man that kept his word and fulfilled his promises. He was a generous provider who deeply loved his family and cared for his friends. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing, country music, Westerns, coin collecting, rockhounding, and he planted many trees for future generations.
Jim was highly respected and loved by many.
He will be missed very much.
