Jacob Scott Imlay, 32, Los Angeles, California passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020. He is the son of Dr. Lonnie and Kathleen Imlay, Colorado Springs, Colorado. In addition to his parents, Jake is survived by his brother, Matthew Imlay, Tokyo, Japan; sister, Hannah Imlay, Denver, Colorado; grandmother, Lois Imlay, Hubbard, Iowa; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Reverend Harry Imlay, Radcliff, Iowa and grandparents, John and Dolores Stevenson, Gainesville, Georgia.
Jake, as he was known to family and friends, was born May 9, 1988 at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. He graduated from Cheyenne Mountain High School in 2006. In further pursuit of his education, he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Design degree from the University of Colorado, Denver in 2012. Jacob worked for many years honing his craft as a gifted artist and graphic designer for several companies in the greater Denver area.
Jacob enjoyed expressing his creative drawing talents in different media, as well as in graphic design. He particularly liked to express his beliefs and feelings in the form of animated characters. Additionally, Jake loved attending and participating in many music and art festival events, camping, traveling, going to the beach and hanging out with his friends. He especially loved his dogs.
The family is having a casual outdoor celebration of life service at the courtyard of the Fellowship of the Rockies, Colorado Springs, Colorado on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. Those wishing to attend should bring a mask and a lawn chair for social distancing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to any of the following worthy organizations in the Colorado Springs area: Urban Peak Youth Services, Inside Out or the National Association of Mental Illness (NAMI).
