Bert was born to Hollin Taylor Brooks and Helen Azalia Brooks on April 12, 1940 in San Jose, California.
Bert graduated from San Benito High School in 1958. He attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California majoring in Animal Husbandry.
Bert was Honorably Discharged from the Army National Guard in 1971. He married the love of his life, Gloria, on November 12, 1977 in Palo Alto, California. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1979 in which he pursued his career as a Quality Engineer.
Bert loved the outdoors which included fishing, hunting, skiing, camping and traveling to many places with his family. His love of music included singing for many years in church and school choirs. Barber Shop Quartet was his favorite at Cal Poly.
Bert’s love for children involved many years as a youth leader with the Methodist Church, Boy Scout Leader and 4-H Leader.
He enjoyed cheering his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at their sporting events and school activities.
Bert leaves behind his wife Gloria of 43 years. Children Christine (Christopher) Rowe, Robert (Kathy) George, Grandchildren Victoria (Josh), Amber (Eric), Sebastian, Benjamin, Bobby and Brian. Great Grandchildren Kloe, Charlee, Kaylee, Madyson, Tanner and Henry.
Bert is also survived by his brother Bill Brooks and brother-in-law Larry Thorndike and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Bert was predeceased by his parents, in-laws Howard, Ruth and Nancy Thorndike and granddaughter Brittney George.
Celebration of life will be determined at a later date.
