June 28, 1986 – May 14, 2021
Gretchen Ann (Pennington) Resseguie went to be with the Lord May 14, 2021 in Colorado Springs, Colo. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 12 years, Scott Resseguie, and all who knew and loved her.
Gretchen loved her family: her husband; parents, Phil and Gail; brother, Josh; and her extended family and in-laws. She was adored by cherished, life-long friends, respected by her colleagues, and deeply committed to her faith and church community.
She was also passionate about stories – from Tolkien’s epic fantasies and Sherlock Holmes’ sleuthing, to timeless Disney fairy tales and traveling by Tardis. She grew up watching classic TV shows with her brother, and could quote nearly every movie she’d ever seen. Her love of a good story even inspired her to begin writing her own novel.
Gretchen was born June 28, 1986 in St. Louis, Missouri, to Phil and Gail Pennington. The family lived in St. Louis and Kansas City, Kansas, before moving to Colorado Springs in 1991. At seven years old, she was overjoyed to become a big sister.
She attended Colorado Springs Christian School, where she graduated summa cum laude, participated in soccer and band, and served as the manager for the state champion girls’ basketball team. During high school Gretchen traveled to England, Scotland and Ireland with the People to People Student Ambassador program, igniting her love for Irish and Celtic culture.
She attended Colorado State University, where she met Scott, and earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration—Computer Information Systems.
Gretchen and Scott married May 30, 2009 in Golden, Colo. They spent two years in Tampa, Florida, taking advantage of the water, warm weather, and proximity to Disney World before returning to Colorado Springs in 2011.
She attended Faith Covenant Church and was most recently a member of Rocky Mountain Calvary Church.
Gretchen spent her professional career working in information technology and customer service for Progressive Insurance, where she consistently received recognition for outstanding performance and service. She was a lifelong learner who strove for excellence and integrity in everything she did.
Gretchen is survived by her husband, Scott Resseguie; parents, Philip and Gail Pennington; brother, Joshua Pennington (Autumn) and niece, Phoenix; as well as by many family, friends and loved ones.
