Frank Gordon Hunter was a loving and devoted family man. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carmen Hunter, a Son, Frank Gordon Hunter Jr. and two Daughters, Kathleen Ann Harrison and Beverly Elaine Haley, 9 grandchildren, 20 great- grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was also very much loved by friends, those he worked for and those that worked for him. Frank passed away on January 8, 2015 very peacefully as he slept next to the woman that he loved more than anything, his wife, Carmen. He was born in Lake City, Florida on January 22, 1929 to his parents, Lon Gordon Hunter and Ida Mae Hunter.
Frank was raised on a farm in Northern Florida until he joined the United States Army Air Corps in 1946, shortly before it became the United States Air Force. His proficiency in Aircraft Maintenance advanced him to the top rank of Chief Master Sergeant in just 15 years. He retired from the military after 28 ½ years. Shortly after retirement he was contacted by Doss Aviation to employ his expertise with their company. In the 32 years with Doss, he climbed the ladder from Assistant Manager to President/CEO and part owner of the company taking Doss Aviation from the small business category to an international corporation. His brilliant, easy going management style earned him the love and respect of all that he worked with.
In celebration of his life, a rosary will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 5pm. A Viewing will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 9:30am with the Funeral Mass at 10am.
